Akitoshi Fuller, Geography

Graduated in 2005

I chose Geography at Bath Spa University because of the many subjects within human and physical Geography on offer. I could choose from regional geography, sustainable development to a long haul field trip to Boston. What I liked about Bath Spa University was the community feeling I felt whilst studying there. Being a mature student I was concerned about how hard it would be for me to become accustomed to a subject I hadn’t studied for many years, however the Geography staff always had the time to go over any concern, theory or just a friendly chat in the corridor. My degree has fully prepared me for the world of work as the modules consisted of various different learning methods including research modules, teamwork, presentations and fieldwork. I am currently teaching English in Japan and my Bath Spa Geography degree has already proven useful, equipping me with valuable management skills, presentation skills, teamwork and negotiation skills. Importantly, I now have a confidence in my ability to succeed. Geography at Bath Spa University really did bring the best out of me – my next move is to take a postgraduate course in Geography this coming September.
