Insights in Psychology

9th September 2010

An Academic from Bath Spa University is leading an initiative to help Psychology students to bridge the gap between school and university.  Nigel Holt, senior lecturer in Psychology at Bath Spa University, has edited a unique new series of eight books, Insights in Psychology, which are suitable for A-level students, teachers, undergraduates, postgraduates and even general readers interested in the subject.

He and co-editor Rob Lewis from UWIC have carefully chosen authors who teache and research at university level to maintain an up to date knowledge of current developments.  The series covers key topics in Psychology, such as health, research methods, sport, intelligence, media, forensics, addiction and relationships. Although UK based, the project is truly international, with authors in the current and coming books Australia and Switzerland. The very significant collaboration involves the Edith Cowan University, Winchester, South Bank, Aberystwyth, Manchester Metropolitan, Birkbeck, The University of Bath and the Open University.

This comprehensive series, published by Palgrave Macmillan, is the first one aimed at helping Psychology students to make the transition from school and college to university study, and is an important and very significant contribution to the literature.

Six more books for the series are now in preparation for publication in 2011, and negotiations are underway for more. The series looks set to continue to grow for the next few years.
