Biology

Overview

Overview

Biology is an enjoyable, interesting and challenging programme in which you can study both contemporary issues and classical biological concepts. Our modular programme means that you can choose to study the full breadth of Biology or specialise in specific areas such as biology, conservation, human biology or plant biology.

Soil testing

There is an emphasis on practical work, both in the laboratory and field, which together with project work and adds depth and understanding to your lectures. Our laboratories are modern and well equipped, and we are fortunate to have a unique campus, our natural laboratory, providing a wide range of natural study resources.

We are conscious of the importance of developing career readiness and many of your studies will develop knowledge and skills in demand by employers. You will benefit from a friendly and pleasant study environment working with enthusiastic lecturers who have backgrounds from academia, research, consultancy, statutory bodies and voluntary organisations. They have specialist interests in a wide range of subjects (animals, plants and environments) and this is reflected in the breadth and depth of our programme. Equally, our technicians have the skills and knowledge to help you with your studies, particularly with practical investigations.
