Dr David Watson, Head of Department: Science
I studied biology at
the University of Manchester and undertook research in plant population
ecology at the University of Liverpool.
As well as many years experience of teaching in Higher Education, I have a long track record in environmental
consultancy. This included six years as a senior manager in an
environmental consultancy, working in the UK and abroad - experience
that I bring to bear in teaching more vocational topics such as
ecological assessment.
Current research projects include a major grassland habitat creation project
on a former landfill site at the Carymoor Environmental Trust/ Somerset
Wildlife Trust.
My voluntary environmental work includes being a member of Council for Somerset Wildlife Trust.
so I have a good understanding of issues facing wildlife conservation, such as climate change.
In the university, I have a leading role in Minerva, the university's Virtual Learning Environment. I'm also a member
of the University's Environmental Steering Group, responsible for helping the university manage its environmental impact.
