Dr Lance Workman, Subject Leader: Psychology
I teach in the School of Science, Society and Business where I am head of research and subject leader for Psychology. My teaching and research interests lie in biological and evolutionary psychology. I have published a large number of articles on biological psychology and on animal behaviour and am currently involved in collaborative research with the Universities of Swansea and Glamorgan. I am on the editorial board of 'The Psychologist' where I am largely responsible for the interviews section.
My book
'Evolutionary Psychology' (Workman and Reader) was published by Cambridge
University Press in 2008 (second edition) in the UK,
USA, Canada, Australia
and throughout Europe including a French
language edition.
I regularly work as a media psychologist, making over 800 appearances in the
media since 1992 including over 400 broadcasts for radio and 80 for television.
I have acted as resident psychologist for programmes on both BBC Wales and ITV
Wales. Additionally I regularly appear in both local and national press and my
own research has featured on the front pages of the Guardian and the Telegraph.
I am currently acting as advisor for a series on animal behaviour for Sky TV.
