Dr. Lu Liu, Senior Lecturer - Economics

I came to BSU at Oct. 2010. I am teaching economics module at Business and Management Department.

I was born in China. In 1991, I was granted a bachelor’s degree (BEng) in engineering economics by Harbin Engineering University (China). From 1991 to 1996, I worked as a business analyst and consultant. From 1996 to 2001, I was a lecturer at Harbin Engineering University. I was teaching a wide range of modules in business and economics. At the meantime, I was supervising degree thesis at undergraduate and master level and doing research on market economics. I was also a part-time public relations and marketing consultant of several small companies and a visiting lecturer of several universities and colleges.

With the sponsorship of Norwegian Education Department, I obtained my BA from Østfold University College, Norway, with a one-year top-up programme titled International Economics and Business in 2002.

With the sponsorship of Swedish Institute, I successfully finished my MSc degree study at Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, in international business with a pathway of E-business and SMEs’ international marketing.

I was doing the PhD from 2006 – 2010 at the University of Bolton in the research area of knowledge and information management. I was sponsored by the university. Meanwhile, I was a part-time lecturer teaching business modules as well as supervising BSc and MSc dissertation.

From 01/10 to 09/10, I was teaching economics and business modules at University of Sheffield – Sheffield International College.

My research interest is in the area of integrating knowledge management activities into management information systems for SMEs and none-profit organisations (NPOs) to achieve effective management activities. As a member of teaching staff, I am also interested in the research topic of integrating e-learning pedagogy into class learning methodology so as to help HEIs to effectively use virtual learning tools and technologies to provide practical teaching and training programme for SMEs.
