Tracey Lewarne, Course Leader: Human Nutrition
I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1993 with a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and Biochemistry. I then took a PGCE (science/biology) at the University of Southampton and completed it in 1994.
I worked for Bournemouth University in the area of nutrition and human biology from 1994 - 2005. I became a member of the Institute for Learning and Teaching in 2002 and a Registered Nutritionist in 2003.
My recent area of research has been the investigation of the activity of the superoxide dismutase protein in people with diabetes mellitus and the links with blood glucose levels and secondary complications. This work has been carried out at Bournemouth University. Future collaborations with Bournemouth University are in negotiation.
Previous research has included the analysis of diet and hormone levels in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic subjects.
