Changing Landscapes Research Group
Introduction
Members of this inter-disciplinary research group are involved in a wide range of research projects, which can be grouped into two major, and overlapping, themes: Landscape, Identity and Representation and Development and Sustainability. Research includes both individual and collaborative projects, and includes traditional academic research and pedagogic research. Current research areas are indicated below:
Landscape, Identity and Representation
- Place creation and identities in suburban communities (Alan Marvell)
- Ritual Landscapes (John Robb)
- Heritage interpretation and national identity in Ireland. Funded by RGS Small Research Grant. (Heather Winlow)
- The Cartographic representation of the American Indian population of the U.S. between 1850 and 1950. Funded by American Geographical Society McColl Research Fellowship. (Heather Winlow)
Sustainability and Development
- Sustainable Transport Choices: Understanding Children's Mobility. Funded by RGS Small Research Grant (Mark McGuinness)
- Antarctic Tourism and the Environment (Debra Enzenbacher)
- Exploring the role of community groups in the construction of wellbeing in Northeast Thailand (Rebecca Schaaf)
- Supporting Foundation Degree Students In Higher Education. Funded by HEA-GEES. (David Simm, Alan Marvell, Heather Winlow, Rebecca Schaaf)
- An investigation into the relationship between diet and perceptions of health and wellbeing. Collaborative research project funded by the School of Science and the Environment, Bath Spa University. (Rebecca Schaaf and Tracey Lewarne)
