Changing Landscapes Research Group
Research & Outreach Activities
The CLRG are involved in research projects aimed at enhancing our understanding of both the natural environment and the impact of human activity on physical landscapes. In addition, the Group are actively engaged in outreach activities that have been developed to enhance public awareness of issues related to landscape change. A summary of some of these activities are provided here:

Landscape Detectives at Shapwick Heath
As part of the Festival of British Archaeology (16th-31st July 2011), the CLRG are working with Natural England and Somerset County Council to run an outreach event at the Avalon Marshes Centre at Shapwick Heath NNR on the Somerset Levels. The event, scheduled for 23rd July, will introduce the Sweet Track, one of the most important prehistoric sites in the UK and explain how research over recent decades has revealed a complex but fascinating story of landscape change and human occupation. The day will include guided walks, specialist lectures and activities for adults and children in an attempt to engage the local community about the heritage of the Somerset Levels region. For further details please contact Tom Hill on the email link below or visit the Festival of British Archaeology website.
