Why I chose Bath Spa
Posted 7th February 2009 in 'Studying', by Josh
I think the primary reason for choosing this course was a great interest in the natural environment, and wanting to have a deeper understanding of the earth’s various processes and interactions. Taking Environmental Science also means you get to spend a significant amount of time outside working in various habitats, an opportunity which you don’t get with many other courses. Also, the wide variety of topics that you get to cover here has great appeal. With one session you can be studying Diatoms on a microscopic level, and the next looking at global scale issues such as the Carbon Cycle, or more social issues like how developing countries can live sustainably.
The reason why I chose this particular uni is because I immediately found both staff and students here really friendly and approachable - your lecturers all get to know you by first name, which is quite rare at most other uni's. Both the campus and city are beautiful, there's a fair amount of stuff going on in town at night also. Bath is really handy to other locations as well, takes around 10 minutes to get to Bristol, and can be just over an hour to get to London on a fast train, if you invest in a railcard and book a bit in advance it's really cheap too.
